FAVIVOX FAVIPIRAVIR-400 MG
Favipiravir, sold under the brand name 'FAVIVOX FAVIPIRAVIR-400 MG' among others, is an antiviral medication used to treat influenza in Japan. It is also being studied to treat a number of other viral infections, including SARS-CoV-2. Like the experimental antiviral drugs T-1105 and T-1106, it is a pyrazinecarboxamide derivative.

Favipiravir for COVID-19 treatment
Considering the approved status, evidence on the safety, and key indicators of efficacy of favipiravir in COVID-19 from trials/registries in Russia, Japan, China, and Thailand, it appears to be useful in the management of COVID-19, particularly mild to moderate disease; however, large randomised controlled trials are needed to demonstrate whether this effect translates to clinical benefits such as shorter disease course, early hospital discharge, and reduced nephrotoxicity. It is currently available for COVID-19 therapy in a number of countries, including Russia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. It is a promising treatment that has been repurposed to treat COVID-19 because of its quick viral clearance, greater clinical recovery rate, and availability as an oral medicine with a documented safety profile. Favipiravir's clinical effectiveness, safety, and therapeutic role in the overall treatment of COVID-19 will be further explored in current clinical trials across the globe.
